BUILT FOR THIS CLIMATE
Three battery options, including the one with the most power for the grades.
A weak hybrid battery can hide until Virginia's hills find it
A weakening hybrid battery isn’t always obvious during everyday driving. You may first notice sluggish acceleration or the gas engine working harder when climbing Virginia’s hills.

A weak battery can go unnoticed on level roads

At steady speeds, the gas engine often does most of the work. That can make a weakening hybrid battery harder to notice until you need extra power for acceleration or a climb.

Virginia's grades are where you find out

Pulling a long grade, merging onto the interstate or carrying a loaded vehicle calls on the battery and the engine together. A battery in good condition keeps up. A faded one runs short, and you feel the gas engine working harder to make up the difference.

Virginia summers are what got it there

Heat is the main thing that costs a hybrid battery its capacity, and Virginia supplies a long warm season with nights that stay warm too. A single summer does not look dramatic. Ten summers in a row are what leave a battery with less to give.

The vehicle does not have to leave your driveway

Free mobile installation means a technician brings the battery out and does the swap there. You are not booking a loaner or giving up a day. Call (888) 473-7265 today.
Before you replace anything, make sure it's the battery

A failing hybrid battery usually announces itself: fuel economy drops, the gas engine runs more than it used to, a warning light comes on. Those same symptoms show up with other faults, so pull the trouble codes before you spend anything. Our trouble code lookup explains what each one means.

Which hybrid battery we recommend in Virginia
We install all three across Virginia, and there is no charge for the mobile installation. If the climbs are where you notice the problem, power output matters as much as service life.
1 Our pick

New Module Sodium

Sodium holds up to heat better than anything else we offer, which is what decides service life in a long Virginia summer. Sodium lasts the longest of the three at 5-7 years and carries a 4-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.

Sodium is newer technology, so it is not offered for every vehicle yet. Find My Battery will tell you in a couple of steps whether it is available for yours.

2 Also a strong choice

New Module Prismatic

Prismatic is the nearest equivalent we offer to your vehicle’s original battery, which makes it the one to pick if you want the hybrid to feel unchanged. Prismatic lasts 4-6 years and comes with a 3-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.

3

New Module Cylindrical

Cylindrical is the most affordable of the three and puts out the most power, which is worth having if the grades are where the problem shows. Expect 3-5 years, with a 2-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.

This order is for Virginia. Each type carries its own warranty, so coverage depends on which battery you choose — the warranty page lists the terms, and the battery technology page has the full side-by-side comparison.

Common questions

Yes. A driveway, an office lot or a curbside space is all it takes — no shop visit, no tow, no garage. Tell us where you are and we’ll confirm the options for your address.

Yes. A battery loses capacity gradually, and ordinary driving never asks for enough to reveal the loss. Most people find out on a grade, or when they notice the gas engine running at times it used to stay quiet.

No. A climb asks the hybrid system for more, which is why a tired battery gets found out there, but asking is not wearing. What actually costs a battery its capacity is heat and years.

Not on its own. What matters is that humid nights tend to stay warm, so a vehicle gets less of a cool stretch between hot days. The temperature overnight is what counts, not the moisture in the air.

The usual signs are worse gas mileage, the engine running more than it used to, less power on hills, and a warning light. Other problems cause the same signs, so read the trouble codes first. Our trouble code lookup tells you what each code means. A grade is the quickest test you can run yourself, because a healthy battery holds up on one and a tired one does not.

You don’t have to work this out alone. Call (888) 473-7265 and we will read the codes with you, rule out anything else it could be, and confirm which battery fits your vehicle before you spend a cent.

Whatever it turns out to be, the vehicle still drives. A worn hybrid battery costs you gas mileage and some power. It does not leave you stranded.

Sodium if it is offered for your vehicle, because nothing we make stands up to heat as well and it lasts the longest. Prismatic to keep the hybrid driving as it always has. Cylindrical for the lowest price, or for the most power on the grades. The battery technology page sets out all three. If you cannot pick, choose any one of them and ask us for a quote covering all three, and we will put it together.

Every battery we install is covered, and none of the warranties has a mileage limit. There is nothing to cap, because how far you drive is not what wears a hybrid battery out. How many years you get depends on which battery you choose, and the warranty page has the terms.

Shade through the warmest months is the one thing with a real effect. Change the cooling filter on schedule, because that filter is the only real maintenance a hybrid battery has. If the vehicle sits for weeks at a time, take it out for a decent drive now and then. A hybrid battery slowly loses charge when nothing is using it, and letting it run all the way down does permanent damage.
