About Us

A Legacy of Innovation, Sustainability, and Growth
Our Story

At Green Bean Battery, we are passionate about innovation in battery technology, constantly developing new approaches to testing, reconditioning, and remanufacturing. We understand that the hybrid battery in your vehicle represents a significant investment from when you first purchased the vehicle. That’s why we have developed proprietary reconditioning and testing procedures that have proven these batteries can last for many years with proper care and maintenance. As a result, if you’re facing hybrid battery issues, you don’t have to settle for purchasing a replacement battery from a dealership.

Even if your vehicle is still worth the investment to keep it running, a brand-new replacement battery can be costly. That’s why Green Bean Battery offers an affordable alternative. Our batteries are in like-new condition, have performance equal to a dealer replacement, and come with a much longer warranty and considerably lower price.

We take pride in every battery we manufacture, and our mission is to produce quality hybrid battery packs for our customers. You deserve the best, and that’s what we aim to provide.

The LKQ Journey
1998

LKQ Corporation began in 1998, formed through the merger of several wholesale businesses specializing in recycled automotive products across Florida, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. From the start, LKQ has focused on sustainability, quality, and customer trust. Through nearly
270 acquisitions, the company has built one of the industry’s most comprehensive selections of aftermarket, recycled, and refurbished auto parts— becoming a global leader in the circular automotive economy.

2016

Green Bean Battery was founded in 2016 in Apex, North Carolina, with a mission to make hybrid vehicle ownership more affordable and sustainable. Specializing in reconditioned Toyota NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) hybrid batteries and offering mobile installation services, Green Bean expanded rapidly, serving customers in 34 states by 2018.

2021

In May 2021, Green Bean Battery was acquired by LKQ Corporation, merging Green Bean’s innovative hybrid battery model with LKQ’s nationwide parts and distribution network. This partnership strengthened LKQ’s commitment to environmentally responsible solutions and sustainable automotive practices.

2023

In 2023, Green Bean Battery introduced remanufactured hybrid batteries with new modules and in 2024, introduced remanufactured hybrid batteries with sodium modules.

2024

Continuing this vision, LKQ acquired the Sanford Hybrid Battery Manufacturing Facility in November 2024—a state-of-the-art production center in Sanford, North Carolina. The facility enhances the quality and consistency of Green Bean’s reconditioned hybrid batteries, enabling the company to better serve hybrid and electric vehicle owners nationwide.

2025

While the transition introduced challenges, the improvements made throughout 2025 have laid the groundwork for a strong, efficient, and sustainable 2026.

Together, LKQ, Green Bean Battery, and the Sanford Manufacturing team share a unified mission: to deliver high-quality, environmentally friendly solutions for hybrid and electric vehicles that help drivers save money, extend vehicle life, and reduce waste.
