Hybrid Battery Replacement in Pennsylvania

In Pennsylvania a hybrid battery is used up by the summers, not by the winters. When yours gives out, free mobile installation means we come to the vehicle — no shop visit, no tow, and most installs take about an hour.

Why a Pennsylvania hybrid battery wears out in summer, not winter
Summer heat does most of the wear on a hybrid battery in Pennsylvania, even though winter is often when drivers first notice the signs. Heat, stop-and-go traffic, and the long descents out on the ridges can gradually reduce battery capacity. When winter arrives, the cold doesn’t necessarily cause the problem — it simply makes an aging battery’s loss of performance harder to ignore.

Rush hour takes a toll

Southeast Pennsylvania's stop-and-go traffic can be tough on a hybrid battery. Low charge, constant stopping and starting, and summer heat all work together, gradually wearing down battery capacity.

Across the ridges, it's the long descents

Long downhill grades can keep regenerative braking active for extended periods, repeatedly sending energy back to the hybrid battery. That sustained charging can raise battery temperatures and add to wear over time.

A street-parked hybrid has nowhere to hide

Hours in the summer sun can send cabin temperatures soaring, leaving the hybrid battery sitting in trapped heat with little airflow to help it cool. When possible, even parking in the shade can make a difference.

A battery that was fine in June can feel flat in January

A battery that seemed healthy all summer can feel weak and thirsty the first cold week. A replacement brings the power and the gas mileage back, and mobile installation is free. Call (888) 473-7265 today.
Before you replace anything, make sure it's the battery

A failing hybrid battery usually announces itself: fuel economy drops, the gas engine runs more than it used to, a warning light comes on. Those same symptoms show up with other faults, so pull the trouble codes before you spend anything. Our trouble code lookup explains what each one means.

Which hybrid battery we recommend in Pennsylvania
We install all three of these across Pennsylvania. Summer is what uses a battery up here, so compare heat tolerance first and how each one handles a cold morning second.
1 Our pick

New Module Sodium

Sodium runs 5-7 years, longer than the other two, with a 4-year warranty and no mileage limit. Its rated range runs from −40°F to 140°F, which covers a Pennsylvania July and a January night up north.

Sodium is newer technology, so it is not offered for every vehicle yet. Find My Battery will tell you in a couple of steps whether sodium is available for yours.

2 Also a strong choice

New Module Prismatic

Prismatic is the closest match we sell to the battery your vehicle came with, so it behaves the way you are used to. It runs 4-6 years with a 3-year warranty. On price it sits between the other two, which makes it good value if you plan to keep the vehicle long term.

3

New Module Cylindrical

Of the three, cylindrical is the one that costs the least, and it gives 3-5 years with a 2-year warranty. Its ideal range reaches down to −4°F, and it puts out more power than the other two, which is what a vehicle asks for on a February morning.

This order is for Pennsylvania. Each type carries its own warranty, so coverage depends on which battery you choose — the warranty page lists the terms, and the battery technology page has the full side-by-side comparison.

How mobile installation works

No bay, no lift, no garage. Your driveway, your office lot, wherever the vehicle is sitting.

1

Find your battery

Tell us the year, make and model. We’ll confirm which batteries fit and what each one costs before anything gets booked.

2

Pick a time and place

After your order is confirmed, our scheduling team will work with you to choose and book a convenient date, time, and location that fits your schedule.

3

We come to you

A technician shows up with the battery and the tools. Nothing to drop off, no loaner, no waiting room.

4

Back on the road

Most installs take about an hour. The old battery leaves with the technician and goes back for recycling.

Common questions

Yes. A driveway, an office lot or a curbside space is all it takes — no shop visit, no tow, no garage. Tell us where you are and we’ll confirm the options for your address.

The cold is almost never the cause. Below freezing a battery hands over less power until the vehicle has warmed through, and then it behaves normally again. What you felt that week was capacity the summers had already taken, showing up at the one time of year it cannot be ignored.

No. Steady highway running at 55-70 is about the easiest work a hybrid battery ever does, and distance is not what uses one up. Our warranties carry no mileage limit for exactly that reason. The summers and the years are what took yours.

The usual signs are worse gas mileage, the engine running more than it used to, less power on hills, and a warning light. Other problems cause the same signs, so read the trouble codes before you spend anything. Our trouble code lookup tells you what each code means. On a vehicle that spends its winters on salted roads, a corroded connection brings on some of the same complaints, so have that ruled out at the same time.

You don’t have to figure this out alone. Call us and we will go through the codes with you and rule out the other causes first.

Whatever it turns out to be, the vehicle still drives. A worn hybrid battery costs you gas mileage and some power. It does not leave you stranded.

Those two numbers describe different things. Ten or twelve years is how long an original takes to fall to around 60%, and it had been fading quietly for years first. What we publish is service life, and every one of them carries a warranty. Sodium gives 5-7 years, prismatic 4-6, cylindrical 3-5, and no warranty among them counts miles.

Choose New Module Sodium if it is offered for your vehicle, because it takes summer heat better than anything else we sell and its range covers a Pennsylvania winter as well. Choose New Module Prismatic if you want the nearest thing to your original. Choose New Module Cylindrical if price leads, or if you want the most power on a cold morning. The battery technology page lays the three out together. If you cannot decide, pick one and say you would like every option priced for your vehicle, and we will put that together.

Every battery we install is covered, and none of the warranties has a mileage limit. There is nothing to cap, because how far you drive is not what wears a hybrid battery out. How many years you get depends on which battery you choose, and the warranty page has the terms.

Shade through the summer does more than anything else you can do. Change the cooling filter on schedule, because that filter is the only real maintenance a hybrid battery has. If the vehicle sits for weeks at a time, take it out for a decent drive now and then. A hybrid battery slowly loses charge when nothing is using it, and letting it run all the way down does permanent damage.
