WHAT ARE OBD TROUBLE CODES?
On-Board-Diagnostic (OBD) trouble codes are part of the system that monitors and identifies issues with your vehicle. For example, when this system sees an issue with your hybrid battery, it turns on the check engine light and records an OBD code. The trouble codes are very specific issues about what’s going on with your car and will give you all the information you need to make a decision about your vehicle.
OBD Trouble codes always follow the same formula (the combination of letters and numbers) to make it easy to pinpoint the issue in your vehicle. Take a look at the image to see how to decipher the P0A80 (Replace Hybrid Battery Pack) Trouble code.
All OBD Trouble Codes are accessed by plugging a code reader into the vehicle’s OBD port. If you have an OBD reader, you can do it yourself. Or you can take your car to have it diagnosed. Some places might charge for the diagnostics, others like the auto parts stores will do it for free. Regardless of how or where you get your codes, enter them into the Trouble Code Finder above to learn more. And once you’re ready, call Green Bean Battery and we’ll guide you through the battery replacement process.
